Freedom of Assembly

In a state governed by the rule of law, freedom of assembly includes public or private assembly, marches, rallies, demonstrations and sit-ins for any purpose, as long as they are peaceful. In Greece, recent legislation has proved controversial as it stipulates that an assembly, even if it is peaceful, can be dispersed if the police were not notified beforehand.
