2nd ANNUAL REPORT ON THE STATE OF THE RULE OF LAW IN GREECE – 2022

The first observatory of the Rule of Law in Greece is two years old and has recorded, for 2022, more than 170 reports!

We present to you the second annual report of the collection and recording of incidents of violations of the principles of the rule of law.

Among the most serious reports we recorded are:

  • Violation of the rules of good lawmaking.
  • The cover-up of the wiretapping scandal at the level of the Independent Authorities. Entrusting the investigation of the case to the incompetent National Transparency Authority (NSA) and not to the competent independent authorities of the Hellenic Communications Privacy Authority (Hellenic Communications Privacy Authority) and the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Hellenic Data Protection Authority).
  • The failure of the Greek state to comply with decisions of Greek supreme courts.
  • The illegal surveillance of journalists and politicians.
  • Police violence.
  • Violation of the rights of LGBTQ+ people, vulnerable groups and minorities.

In the category “Corruption“, Govwatch recorded a total of 1 serious violation.
In the category “Law & Order“, Govwatch recorded a total of 68 violations.
